The Village of Glencoe is bordered by Lake Michigan, the Cook County Forest Preserve and the Glencoe Golf Course. Just 20 miles north of downtown Chicago, it offers a harmonious blend of luxury living, historic charm, and a great community spirit among its approximate 8,600 residents.

Real Estate: Comprised of traditional and contemporary homes in a range of prices, Glencoe features beachfront mansions, architecturally-significant mid-century modern homes, new construction and a mix of townhomes and condominiums. The village is home to the world’s third largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright structures. In 2023, The Wall Street Journal wrote an article about the town titled: “The Priciest Place to Live in the Midwest,” in which Glencoe was found to have the highest ratio of home value per capita in Illinois.

Education: The Glencoe schools comprise three elementary and junior schools—South School (kindergarten to 2nd Grade, West School (3rd and 4th Grade), and Central School (5th to 8th Grade). These institutions are renowned for their rigorous curriculum, dedicated faculty, and emphasis on individualized learning. Students from Glencoe attend New Trier High School, and the town’s schools consistently rank among the top public schools in Illinois. The school system offers a comprehensive array of courses, extracurricular activities, and sports programs, preparing students for college and beyond.

Shopping and Dining: The downtown area is home to a variety of boutiques and specialty shops catering to diverse tastes. Visitors can explore unique stores offering everything from fashion and accessories to home decor and gifts. Some popular retail boutiques are Valentina, LuxLab, Hudson Grace, and Wild Child. Glencoe has quick dining options such as Food Stuffs, Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Home Town Coffee and Juice. Fine dining restaurants Guildhall, Merlo’s are always booked in advance for their popular food and bar scenes.

Recreation and Lifestyle: Nature enthusiasts relish the abundance of outdoor activities, thanks to the proximity to Lake Michigan and parks like Skokie Lagoons and the Chicago Botanic Garden. Every year more than 1 million people visit this living museum and plant-conservation science center, which opened in 1972. It is situated on 385 acres around nine islands, and has 28 gardens and four natural areas. The collection features more than 2.8 million plants. Cultural experiences thrive with institutions like Writers Theatre, which is housed in an architecturally stunning building designed by award-winning Studio Gang Architects. The venue’s inviting ambiance, with its state-of-the-art facilities and innovative design, creates an engaging environment that enhances the audience’s connection with the artistry on stage. Glencoe also is home to the Glencoe Golf Club, Skokie Country Club, Glencoe Beach and Watts Outdoor Ice Skating rink. The Takiff Center is the community center which has a gymnasium, fitness studios, conference activity rooms and more.

Transportation: The Union Pacific/North Line connects Glencoe to downtown Chicago and other suburbs with two train stations, providing a reliable and efficient means of commuting. Glencoe is also a 35 minute drive from O’Hare International Airport.
