Northfield
Northfield is surrounded by neighboring North Shore communities such as Winnetka, Northbrook, Glenview, and Wilmette. It is 17 miles from downtown Chicago and has approximately 5,400 residents living in the community. The town has stunning trails, parks, and many residents live on oversized lots relative to other North Shore communities.
Real Estate: Known for its distinctly residential character and small-town vibe, Northfield is defined by sprawling ranch homes with spacious yards, European-inspired mansions on oversized lots, and condominiums in quiet locales. While the community has experienced growth through new construction, its welcoming atmosphere still remains. Over half of the properties in Northfield are zoned for lot areas of one acre or more. Northfield is one of the few neighborhoods where residents may keep and raise their own horses.
Education: Most residents are zoned to attend the top-rated Sunset Ridge School District 29, encompassing Middlefork Primary School (K-3rd Grade) and Sunset Ridge Elementary School (4th – 8th). Some residents are in the Avoca District; a top ranked district with Avoca West School (K-5th Grade) and Marie Murphy (6th -8th Grade). High school students attend the esteemed New Trier High School, which has a freshman campus in Northfield and Senior campus in nearby Winnetka. The village also houses various private schools such as Hyde Park Day School and Christian Heritage Academy.

Northfield is within close proximity to major shopping centers like Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie and Northbrook Court in Northbrook.

Transportation: Convenient access to I-94 and I-294 makes for an easy drive to the city and O’Hare International Airport (15 miles). Neighboring towns such as Winnetka and Glenview have Metra stations providing train service to downtown Chicago.
